Mountain Dew spilled down in shifter now it takes a while to shift into drive

I was trying to see if any of you have a diagram of the 2006 HHR floor gear shifter. My daughter spilled a Mountain Dew down in it and now it does not like to shift out of park. It may take one try and it may take 20. Any help I can get that would be great.

WD-40 won't dissolve sugar. Use distilled water, and lots of it. Then after it dries, spray the lube.

Smile Mountain Dew in Floor Gift Shift Assembly

We took the gear shift assembly out and cleaned it and so far so good. Thanks again for the diagram. I am sure you saved us alot of money showing us how to do it ourselves.
