My HHR is hazard to road safety!

after initial euphoria regardly my new dark metallic silver beauty HHR-06 my
honeymoon abruptly ended after repetitive and unpredictable ,,check engine, power
steering,,and especially potentially very dangerous (on freeway)
friendly message,,-ENG PWR REDUCED!,with all consequences! From cozy 60-mph ride
on freeway when you are in middle of busy freeway within 10-20 seconds you are
virtually transfered in 4wheel ponderous bicycle=HHR and abruptly blocking
traffic on freeway decelerating to 20-30 mph and if you are lucky enough nobody rams to your
back.I am now acutely aware regardly my mortality what can very easy occur
during critical overpasing a slower vehicle on narrow road when from oposite is
approaching cement truck and my HHR gives me all of sudden message ENG PWR
Reduced! -of course with rapid deceleration)Most shocking is that next day all of sudden:no warning messages and you
can go to dealer for check up this this problem and after scanning system
everything is seemingly perfect (for next 10-14 days) till you get another
message about ,,ENG PWR Reduced,,with all possible consequences from
unpredictable ,,deceleration,,!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Sorry to hear about your troubles. This may be a stupid question, but I will ask it anyhow.Have you checked all the fuses under the hood to see if they are seated correctly? Apparently this is a common problem.Oh...by the way, welcome to the forum.

Loose fuses...

You know, this loose fuse condition is something way more serious than some of the other stuff people are complaining about. If it can be established that the fuses being loose is causing rides to stop/slowdown abruptly, there should be a recall or at least a notice sent out to all owners advising them to check the fuses or come to the dealer and have it done.
We`re not talking cosmetics here, you could be in real peril, if the engine does this on a deserted strip or right in front of a semi.

Just out of curiousity, I went out and popped the hood on my 07. After removal of the fusebox lid, I found that I could push EVERY fuse in further than it was already. This told me that I stood a good chance of something vibrating out or even causing a short if it popped up and sparked. It is definitely something that should be checked if you havent already. Thanks.

The loose fuse thread was one of the first threads here at ChevyHHR.net, it is not a new issue.

The post is a sticky in the Service Issue Threads.

And I could agree with a owner notification, but where is the Quality Control when they are needed?

Well according to Memphis HHR, who has a 2007, this seems to be a problem that is not only on-going, but it doesn`t appear to be ceasing.

I'm not "buying" the loose fuse theory.

I have not, on purpose, touched any of my fuses since the day of delivery. I'm waiting to see when a problem does occur. So far, 15 months, nothing related to lack of electrical flow.

I don`t understand this Snoopy, you would give advice to others about oil, tires, etc; and then come out against something that could actually be a problem, even go so far as to say, you "have not, on purpose, touched any fuses...waiting for a problem to occur".
Very strange position. But HHR`s are expendable and easily replaced..
