My HHR is marking hot but everything is normal but I do smell oil
I already replaced thermostat checked for leaks I'm thinking a bad sensor, can any one give any advice?

 

Look for oil leaks, any puddles under your HHR ? Look around the area the valve cover meets the cylinder head.

Marking hot, I'm not sure what you mean by that. What is the coolant temperature on the digital readout?

If you smell oil, then the engine may be low, check the oil level. Make sure the oil filler cap is in place. Also the cover for the oil filter has an O-ring that could be leaking, some oil filters come with a new O-ring, some don't. The torque value for the cover is 18 lbs ft.

 

What year, engine size and miles on your HHR ?
