Exclamation New member with a liftgate problem...

I could not open my 06hhr lift gate so I replaced the lift gate actuator and replaced the switch release pad and checked the fuse's there all fine. so my question is what I should do next in trying to get this lift gate working right.

Exclamation New member with a liftgate problem...

We have a new member called yankee, and I received a PM concerning a liftgate issue, but after a cruise through the service manuals, I'm not finding an "easy" answer to yankee's question.

So have at it y'all, and let's try to give 'em a hand.

"Hi all I checked the fuse's and replaced the liftgate actuator & switch release pad. and still can't open it by using the new switch release pad!. anyone have an idea what to do next?"

P.S. to the forum yankee!

First thing is to take a multi meter and check for power and the ground connections at the hatch area.
It stated you checked the fuses. The liftgate is powered by a relay. #18 under the hood.
Also. The release pad is just a ground switch. The ground point for the pad wiring harness will be in the vicinity of the right rear taillights.

Aha, you've had your caffeine this morning George.

I assumed the OP had already done that, but you know what they say about assumptions.

Wasn't there something about a fuse under the hood that is SUPPOSED to be vacant? I don't remember the number, but I think it is one closest to the driver next to the tailgate relay.

#10 & #11 are supposed to be vacant, one of those completes a circuit that inhibits the latch. IIRC.

I just stumbled upon yankee's OP and moved it into this thread.

No wonder he had to PM Mike in order to get noticed. It was buried in a t-stat thread somehow.

The lift gate on my '08 Panel never worked unless I didn't need it to. I installed a keyed lock and now just put the key in, turn it and it comes open, each time, every time.
