Resurrecting this old post: It's always fun to discover mysteriously missing parts from your car that you didn't know were missing until now. At some point during my 12 years of 2LT ownership my air intake hose had been completely removed/torn off. I'm going to guess this happened by a mechanic at some point and he didn't bother to mention it to me. Luckily the clamp and rubber connection points are still intact, so I can try the dryer vent method @Oldblue demonstrated above. Looks to be a better option than spending $60+ on a new piece of crap wolly worm. @Junkateria , any luck with your repair?

Correct dryer vent hose works fine. While one has the air box off, great time to check the air filter inside. you will love how the air box was over-engineered. & clean out box if necessary.

Just be careful with the MAF connection to the intake tube, it has a clip on it, but is fragile, so be careful & remember to re-install it or the HHR won't like that.

Yep, I just replaced air filter, cabin air filter, oil filter, and of course oil. This is what lead me to discover the missing hose. Next I want/need to do a transmission fluid change, if for no other reason than to say "Yep, I now know how to do that!" Who knows what other wonderful surprises I will uncover. Speaking of fragile wiring clips - I had to replace the oil pressure sensor recently and the wiring harness connected to that is barely hanging on by a thread. Not sure how to approach replacing it, but so far it seems to be working. No more oil leak, no warning lights. I consider that a win?

Most plugs are available with wires to splice in.

FYWW, I couldn’t locate the 3” dryer hose. It was all the wrong size, but my “repair” has held tight for months! It’s probably as good as the original woolly worm. Lol.

Look up flexible dryer vent hose.
Here's something from Ace hardware:

Wooly Worm Thought

I just joined the HHR family last week. I found the forum while deciding if I should by my 06 HHR LT2. On the drive back from the city I seen my wooly had a few tears. Here was my loner term solution. OEM wooly worm with 3 layers heat resistant electrical tape alternating direction of spin. Still flexible enough to move, but now the resonator doesn't rub on the felt and it dosen't wiggle in the engine either.
