While looking on ebay, I found a couple of sellers offering repair kits for $30-some, like this one.

Sadly, it says it's compatible with the 2007 and newer models, but not the 2006.

There are some small, but significant, design changes that differentiate the '06 model year from the '07 and forward models.

And if memory serves me right, the shifter was one of those design changes.

Thanks. So, am I right in believing that I can't just drop in a used shifter from, say, an '09 model and my options are either buy part # 25864103 or fabricate a repair myself?

I'm going to sit down with the manuals over the weekend, to see if what you are thinking about is in fact possible roberttx.

If anyone has some insight as to using a newer model year shifter in an '06, please chime in.
