Small update, I grounded #3 purple wire yesterday and did a full lobotomy. It did remote start but only when it feels like it basically. I've noticed it works every time if I pull the 50 amp fuse in the back for 5ish minutes then immediately press RS. So after that first start some code must get set and prevent other starts. Then a new development this morning was I got to work and just for shiz and giggles I tried the remote start and it fired right up! I then shut it off and tried again and it started again! I was so psyched until I got in, started it with the key to reset the 2X start limit then got out and tried to remote start it again, now it's back to not doing it. I've noticed that sometimes it takes a good 3-4 seconds of pushing the button before I get the light flash then other times it's almost instant. I'm going to check my soldering job, I tried to strip the purple wire but it ended up severing so I just soldered a ground wire directly to the connector side of the wire. I did test for ground after and I had it. I also noticed my negative battery clamp is completely ukered so I'm going to grab a used one from the LKQ.

I also had a question about the shifter interlock, Since I was going to go to an LKQ yard today anyway I wanted to also fix this key problem possibly if I could. Some forum posts say it's the shifter or more an interlock built into the shifter and others say it's the ignition itself. Since the ignition has already been replaced in 2014 I'm hoping it's the shifter and not an electrical problem or the ignition again. The strange thing is the interlock still works kind of, I have to press the brake to shift out of park still but if I take that stick jammed into the release button on the column the ignition will trap the key as soon as it's turned on. Is it possible that it only broke 50%? I've had that happen with my F-150 where the brake switch worked enough to light the brake lights, but it wasn't functional enough to also unlock the column shifter. I also see an electrical box right next to the button that's being pressed, maybe that went kaput?

I don't see a #3 purple wire on the above diagram, what are you grounding?

Sorry I should've been more detailed, I was referring to the purple wire trick to get remote start working. It's on the lower right connector for the BCM.

Pulling that fuse causes the BCM to reboot. Did you go into the DIC and enable RVS?
If you are trying to do remote start on a 2006 forget it. The hack only works on 2008, as is very clearly stated in the how-to.
Since this thread is all over the place, I don't know what you are trying to do by grounding any wire.
How about "new problem, new thread"?

Sorry as you've found out, I'm pretty awful at speaking. This thread was originally started because I was trying to get the RVS to work and was going through the list of things that cause it to not work. I replaced the hood latch, now I'm on the ignition because RVS will not work if the key is in the ignition. Since I don't get any chimes when opening the door with my key in the ignition I was curious if that meant the car did not know if the key was inserted or not, causing no RVS. Grounding that wire was a "why not" job since it didn't take long and was in hope of eliminating the car thinking the hood was open which disables RVS. RVS is enabled in the DIC.

You started the thread about no chimes trying to blame a computer rather than the door speakers.
no-chime-when-door-opened-key-still-ignition-cylinder-switch-both
The RVS is not supposed to work with the key in the ignition, why would it? Why not just put a big "STEAL ME" sign in the window. See page 2-9 in your Owner Manual, available through the link in my sig.

The hood latch switch does the grounding, The purple wire is one of them, that is a hack for 2008 models that came from the factory with RVS deleted (hood latch without switch).

The reason for no chimes is either the driver door speaker is blown or there is an after market radio improperly installed.

Had you just posed the actual question in the lead post you would not have wasted 3 months worrying it.

I don't know why you're being so hostile, my door speakers all work and I have the factory stereo. No chimes.

Forgot to add but the chimes work when the key is turned on. Just not when the keys in the ignition when it's turned off and the door is opened.
