No cruise, hard shifts

I had an issue today, I think it's related to the cold. Outside temp was about 35. Started the car, put it in gear, and shifter moved freely however the trans kinda jumped like it was really ready to go. I wouldn't say it slammed, but as I sped up and it shifted it shifted hard, like a race car, very stiff and quick shifts. I stopped at the post office and turned it off, then started it right back up, and the shifting was normal. Anyway, when I hit the freeway, which was bone dry, I attempted to use my cruise control, but it would not engage, nothing happened. I never got a trouble code, however when I got home I got a code reader, as the other 2 times I had codes no light came on either. Anyhow I had 1 code, a P1818. Once I cleared it everything worked fine. So I see a TSB on the issue, and it says something about having something reprogrammed. Aside from taking it to the dealer, how can I get it reprogrammed? I hate my local dealer, he's a crook. Any ideas? Or anyone else have this issue and how they got it fixed, aside from taking it to the dealer???

I think you might be stuck taking it in to a dealer, not the dingbat you've had problems with, but a dealer will be needed for this. I haven't heard of any ways to re-flash the ECM short of going to a Chevy dealer, are there any other dealers in your area to try?

Ya, but they are like 60 miles away. I'll keep checking on it though.

You may need reprogramming. See this TSB.

Ya, I saw that on here, and I found the official GM post on it too. I am just wondering if the dealer is the only one I can go to, and am I going to be charged for their issue???

At some point the automakers are going to have to put software updates online like computer software is updated. Reading some of the TSBs, GM often says that this isn't a recall. Eventually someone is going to sue them when they have a wreck because of a software problem.
