No visual or audible warnings on dashboard?

I have a used 2006 Chevy HHR and am more and more displeased with it.

Twice I had gone through a construction zone where in PA you must turn your lights on even if you have day running lights...and forgotten to turn them off when I arrived at my destination. Twice I had to wait over an hour for roadside service to jump me.

In my previous Chevy Equinox there was a chime when you opened the door if your lights are still on. There is no visual or audible warning on the dashboard. Is there such a warning that the previous owner may have disabled it?

Also, I almost ran out of gas the other day because I did not notice that the gas tank was on empty. In the Equinox there was a red gas pump light that came on and flashed when you were running on empty which gave me at least enough warning to get to a gas station. Again, is there such a warning that the previous owner may have disabled?

If I didn't have a 5-year car loan, I think I'd ditch the HHR! Anyone want to buy it??? I'll sell it to you for $6,000!

Does your HHR by chance have a radio that is not original? If the OEM radio was removed it is possible that you will not have any chimes or alarms at all as they were produced by the stereo and audible through the stero speakers.

I have a chime when I leave my lights on and I have a chime and a readout on the DIC that says fuel low when I get under 50 miles left in the tank.

I'd say that post #2 might have hit it on the head, does this HHR have an aftermarket audio system?

But you also can't lay all the blame on the vehicle, you should notice your lights are on, and you should look at the fuel gauge as you do a "sweep" of the instruments as you drive. This would fall under "pilot error" I'm afraid.

It could also be a problem with the left front speaker, as its the only one the chimes come from. And yes, there should be an audible warning for those situations.
Wasnt there an issue with 2006s needing to be reflashed by the dealer for this?

Ditto!!! and this is the second time the OP has brought this up - and the OP never responded to the thread started previously.
