Noise

There is a clicking noise [like a tack cable] when we first drive the hhr.

Sounds crazy but it sounds like it's coming from the shifter area.

It's not the fan. It speeds up with RPM's. It's not loud enough and goes away before becoming very annoying. I hope it doesn't get worse.

thanks KK4

A lttle better info needed. Like: Cold engine? How long it lasts(till engine warm?) When sitting still? Moving? Also did you mean "tach" not tack? Year of car.Engine size. Transmission.
And I assume you're asking for help but your post doesn't say that.

09 hhr 2.4 auto. The noise starts with the cold engine, then goes away in maybe 3 or 4 minutes. Tack like tachometer. Or maybe like a speedometer cable click but not. It increases with RPM's not speed, in each gear.

And what do you think it is? Like I said no big deal yet.

Octane gas? You must use min 90 Octane gas. Oil? Probably the previous oil change was with 15W-40, 20W-50 oil instead 5W-30. Thicker oil takes more time to reach the engine components than thinner when you turn on it.
