I will be changing the wheel bearings on a 2008 hhr. Can I use a non abs assembly on an hhr with abs. Non abs is half the price and the owner doesn't have much for cash.

Sure, if you don't mind the the ESC tossing the car all over the place and The ABS doing strange things. In short, disregarding legal liability issues NO!
You must be shopping at a different place than I do. On Ebay and Amazon w/ABS runs around $50 each. Of course, if you are buying from big box stores expect around $200 each (prove to there is a difference). Hard to find non-ABS.

 

I wouldn't touch it. If he gets killed or someone else and they find you compromised the vehicle you will be held responsible.

 

The hhr does not have abs brakes. I got a hub and bearing at oreily,s for 80 bucks. Repair complete with no stupid shortcuts. Thank you all for the comments.
