Question A number of repair questions from a new owner

I just bought a 2008 HHR Lt and have noticed a few problems that I probably should have caught at the dealership, I was so excited to get the car that I overlooked them. If anyone has any suggestions it would be greatly appreciated.

My dome light dosen't turn on when the door opens, if i press the buttons they work, also if i just push against the dome itself it turns on, but wont remain on. I am guessing this is just a loose wire, I dont know how to remove the dome light and didn't want to mess with it without asking.

Also, does anyone know about replacement a/c vent covers. two of mine are broken, and since they are broken the same way I didn't even notice until after I bought it They are the two vents in the center on either side of the radio.

I am also missing one of the little plastic pieces that covers up the screw on the door panel underneath the door handle on the inside, can these be purchased?

The floor by my passenger door was wet after the last rain storm, all the weatherstripping seems to be entact and yet water is somehow getting in, the window was not open.

The shifter panel has a few burn marks, can these be swapped without putting in a whole new shifter?

Do you have a sunroof?

That would explain the water on the floor. Common and unfortunate problem...relates to the drain tubes.

Do you have the switch on the dome light set to turn on when the doors open? You can turn it off so it doesn't come on.

That's about all I know...

I can comment only regarding the wet floor. There is a recall to correct this.

Look in this thread...https://www.chevyhhr.net/forums/show...t=floor+repair

Thank you Cajun, I found where the leak should be coming from and would have never guessed that one. I doubt the dealer will do anything about it, but Id imagine that wouldn't be to difficult to do. Thanks crazycarkid, but no sunroof, and I am pretty sure it is just a loose wire in the dome light, I was just wondering how to take off the light to get at it. But I am going to talk to the dealer and when they say no, ill just take it over to my buddies shop and we will figure it out. Thanks again guys

Is the car over 36K miles? If not, the dealer damn well better fix the water leak! It is a covered warranty repair. Even if it is over, I wouldn't be suprised if they would work with you since you just bought it from them. They should also be able to take care of a minor dome light issue.

I don't think the "dome" light is supposed to work with the door. It is the lights on the rear view mirror that work with the door on my 2008.

Dome light works if you have the switch ON the light in the correct position.....
