Odd Accleration/Throttle Pedal
Odd Accleration/Throttle Pedal
Chevy HHR 2011 LT 2.4L with 168k, I have been having some troubles with the acceleration noticing a dead spot in the pedal sometimes. Also if I push the pedal to accelerate slowly sometimes nothing happens then push a little more and it jumps up a few hundred rpm like its getting ready to accelerate only to drop back down a few hundred rpm. I will do thing until I push the pedal harder to kick in overdrive and then it will drop a gear and go. I can drive around this issue, but its concerning me because this is my daily driver. Back in March I had a loose ground on the battery terminal causing a lot of electrical feedback and "weird crap" for a lack of a better term.
Since I fixed that I began getting P0842, which sometimes gets thrown. Typical on long hour drives when I pull over to grab gas and as I am coming in it shift erratically and slams into every gear. Once I pull over, shut the car off and open the door, start her back up its good again. I have not been able to repeatedly find what triggers this. However when I drive around locally 1-2hr drives, she works as should. The problems is intermittent and frustrating.
During this time the Throttle body has been clean and also replaced, replaced coil packs, replaced VVT solenoids, replaced valve cover gasket /check timing chain

P0842 indicates that the transmission fluid pressure switch is malfuntioning (shorting to ground). This affects the way the torque converter clutch works. You don't understand "overdrive".
When you stomp on the gas to accelerate the trans down shifts. Overdrive is 4 th gear and torque converter locked, which makes accelerating very difficult.
The torque converter clutch locks the torque converter on and off depending on the computer AlGoreithm to save gas.
Basically saying get to a transmission shop, not a consumer fix. Don't pay for them to replace the torque converter!!! You can inspect the wires going into the transmission, the 20 pin connector might have some messed up wires. The switch is on the valve body, requires partially removing the trans.

It is almost always an electrical issue , loose connections
