P0010, P0011 Code-Replace Solenoids, still have the same symptom

The actuator is the cam gear , not the solenoids

You need these 12655420 and 12679100 for the P0010 and P0011

the part numbers from early to the latest:
Intake 12628347 = 12646783 = 12655420 = 12679099
Exhaust 12628348 = 12646784 = 12655421 = 12679100

joepepsi - how old is the oil? Dirty or old oil is often suspect in causing problems with those solenoids.

ok, so they changed the timing chain already, it looks like that included the new style tensioner.
hiw many miles are on the HHR now?

this shows what was in the kit, notice no balance shaft chain or guides,
based on mileage since it was replaced , I’d spend a day and a couple of bucks and swap out both chains.




The car has 152,000 miles. I replaced both solenoids on Christmas day. The CEL went off since I disconnected the battery to do the work, but came back on later in the day. Isn't changing out the timing chain a costly and difficult process? I doubt I am up to that challenge. I will check the wiring to the solenoids. I have not changed the oil since I bought it. Put on about 600 miles so far. Oil percent on the DIC is at about 58%. I was told the vehicle has had only synthetic oil. Oil looks clean on the dipstick. I realize that isn't much of an indicator. Thank you everyone for all the information and help so far.

The timing chain should be ok at that mileage since the dealer changed it .
Double check the connections, and ensure they are snug

The original timing set failed at 69,293 miles. This newer timing set has nearly 83,000 miles on it. I wouldn't be so quick to dismiss it as the problem.

Yes depending on the front guide, time to remove the valve cover and inspect.
I also recommend having a look under the front cover

Well, I waited for over a week hoping the CEL would miraculously heal itself and turn off. Didn't happen so had the codes read. P0010, P0011. Argh. Guess I'll check the wiring...again. Car appears to be running fine. Idle is still a little rough on occasion. I got home from the auto parts store, reached to open the door and the door handle broke off in my hand. I sure hope this doesn't become one of those cars that has a new annoying issue every month.

indicates camshaft timing, pull the valve cover and the front cover inspect for timing chain marks

Make sure you dont have the intake and exhaust solenoids mixed up. The grey intake solenoid is suppossed to be closer to the front of the vehicle. The black exhaust should be closer to the fire wall. INT & EXT are inscribed on the cam cover so you know.
