Yeah, that Malibu engine is incorrect for your HHR , look at picture #4, you can see the wires going over the cam cover to the solenoids.

That's what im saying oldblue but it says its compatible when i put my ls in so maybe they thought the same and thought it would work and the place they got it from wouldn't take it back so they left john to sell to me with the check engine light off and with that air cleaner on the top i didn't see the vvt on it..or those plugs for that matter

Just save your dollar and do a PAP search for the engine. They probably have 20 to choose from. It's a lot of labor but we're not working with an unlimited budget. If we were I would've already suggested using my rebuilt 2.0 turbo engine (the wife's original)

We can probably get one about 200 bucks. For another 500 we can pull the head off and replace the gasket. Bearings are pretty cheap. Plan on it being at my house for a month. Under a grand and you'll have piece of mind. It'll look something like this. Since you've probably never seen the daily driver I built for my mother (as you know, gotta take of care mom)

If I didn't link the wife's car she'd be upset (as you really know, can't have that!! )

So, tell the ol lady. No worries, that pile in your driveway will be like new real soon.

Oh and no chance of me making it home this week. Some one didn't blow out the darn water lines in the TBM and guess what happens when they freeze. Broken flow meters, heat syncs, hoses, ect. I can't begin testing until we restore the water system. Pain in my... Guess what happens when electrical components freeze...nothing, they could care less. Wish we had a HYD tech on site. I'd rather get zapped than soaked. It's bloody cold here in Montreal!

Someone dropped the ball on me.
