With the engine running unplug & plug it you should hear a click. If I remember right that one is normally open.

Other things: fuel pressure, vapor return tube has a rust hole.

Yes, check for a wet line just by the front of the left rear tire.

Yes, that one is normally open, closes to seal. The 2007 I just got, both the vent and purge were bad. The Vent valve clicked but it didn't seal.

Ok, I'll give those a try after work today. After i hear the click will i be able to tell if It seals or not? Can you hear air getting through the valve if it doesnt close all the way? And I'm borrowing a fuel pressure gauge today too So I'll be able to check if it's getting enough fuel. Thanks for the help guys.

Can't hear air. If you remove the valve a ton of dust will fall out, that gets to be too much for the valve. They are under $20 easy to replace etc.

Save the old rubber grommet!!!!!!!!!!

Did you specify the year of your car? Some need a pigtail that is included with the part, if you buy it separately it is expensive.

So i got the new vent valve and of course it had the wrong wire harness, and completely different plug. Now i have to go to chevy to see if i can find the right one or splice the old connector onto the new unit which i dont really want to do because the other parts store was at a loss. In the meantime, My dad had mentioned the temp sensor could possibly be making it struggle to start and throw the lean code. What do you guys think? And do you have a link to the specs of the temp sensor so i can test it with a digital multimeter?

Uhh., No. Not likely.
But why would you/he think that ? Are you getting some abnormal temp readings or CEL's that are temp related ?
