However, since you cleared the codes it may take several weeks for all of the monitors to run again. Don't be shocked and amazed when the CEL comes back.

A pending P0301 will not set a CEL usually.

lol. thanks for the vote of confidence lol. I think the misfire is what caused the running lean, and with the new plugs it is running smoother so "Hopefully" all fingers and toes crossed that was it, :)

Your reader may be able to get the number of misfires per cylinder, that would be helpful. The computer allows some in a several drive cycles before setting a CEL.

The lean condition could be what caused the misfire - not the misfire causing the lean condition (misfires should result in a rich condition due to unburnt fuel). And I believe cyl #1 is the last one at the end of the fuel rail.

So was out yesterday and the same code came back. thinking about taking it to a shop, plus my transmission started shifting really rough in the first 2 gears.

You have air getting into the system somewhere between the MAF and the #1 O2 sensor. That is assuming that you already checked the fuel pressure, it could be the fuel pump.

That would be a vac leak (the EVAP valve under the hood, probably) or a hole in the exhaust (flex pipe).

the EVAP valve can be tested easily by disconnecting the electrical and both air tubes to it, then blow through it. Free flow of air is bad. New part from AutoZone is about $18.

So it was not the plugs after all. The misfire was caused by a faulty injector and the lean code was caused by the injector O-Rings not sealing and sucking air. If i sprayed them his brake cleaner the engine would almost stall. I put new O-Rings on and no more code and the transmission is shifting smooth as well. It's amazing how much havoc a vacuum leak can cause.
