P0455 Evaporative Emission (EVAP) System Large Leak

Had this happen...per chance did you have something bounce off the bottom of the car while running down the road? Check the can behind the rear axle beam and make sure the hoses are still connected...had on get knocked off, stuck it back on and never had a problem since..

Took my HHr to my buddy's new shop to look at a few issues. CEL light on with a P0455 code.(large evap leak). He did a smoke test on it and found it leaking at the evap canister where the purge valve(not sure if right part name) connects(behind rear axle). Pulled apart and found that the o ring(s) were missing. He didn't have any o rings that were thick enough but two worked. No CEL. WOO-HOO Just something else to look at before replacing parts.

Mine has a rubber bushing thing, not O-ring.

Hello,
After replacing my vent valve selenoid to resolve a P0445 code, I immediately got a P0455 code. New gas cap didn't resolve it. The fact it appeared immediately replaced the vent valve selenoid tells me it has something to do with either vent valve selenoind of the purge valve selenioind (because the guy at Advanced sold me that part for the P0445 code, which wasn't what I needed). I read here about some o-rings. Can anyone post a link that shows these orings?
Thanks!

The other one with a similar name is under the hood.

Yes. And I have good news hopefully. I took that part back off and put double o-rings on both ends with a little lithium grease. Started the car, drove it off the ramps then checked the codes. NOTHING!! I'm keeping my fingers crossed that that fixed it.

Well, it's been like two weeks and the P0455 code keeps coming back. O-rings or no O-rings. It doesn't make any sense to me. I didn't have this code before having to replaced the selenoid. It only seems logical that the code has to be related somehow.
