painting roof and removing or masking windshield
I need to have roof dents and scratches removed and the roof painted of a 2008 HHR. Some body shops say that they have to remove the windshield. Others say they can mask it.
Those that say that they have to remove the windshield say that paint will get on the molding if just doing masking. Also, they say that often old windshields break when you remove them, so would need to replace. I'm concerned about the quality of their replacement windshield.
Is there anything in those original HHR windshields that I don't want to be without?
What do you think about masking versus removing windshield? What do you think of replacement windshields?
Thanks

Removal seems like the best bet, but you would have to pay for it, unless you had damage to start with and can coordinate with your adjuster.
I also had good luck with both PPG and Pilkington (British brand, US made). Our roads in MI are the worst in the country, bar none. Tons of crap hit the windshield...
