All HHRs were built in the same plant in Mexico.

The complaints are why they made the recall/extended warranty.
Owners may contact Chevrolet at 1-800-630-2438, Saturn at 1-800-553-6000, and Pontiac at 1-800-620-7668. GM's number for this recall is N140115.

I have a 2011. I went away on vacation for two weeks. First time in it after being home and backing out of the driveway it felt like no power steering, no idiot lights on the dash. I put it in drive, started moving forward and it felt a little better. By the time I got to the corner it was back to normal and has been okay ever since. I will keep an eye on it. Based on the info here I am not covered by the lifetime extended warranty.

I did call them, actually they just called me back today and told me my vehicle was not under the warranty therefore no reimbursement for my repair of the power steering! I am really irritated!

I WILL NEVER BUY ANOTHER GM VEHICLE.

That does not affect me in any way.

I guess your car does not fit into the "some 2010".

The part is available on eBay for less than $100 flat rate labor is .5 hours; any body with a screwdriver can do it, maybe need a socket or 2.

Get part number 19257875 that's the upgraded part.

Does anyone know the code the system throws when it is the repair covered by the extended warranty.
I called my Chevy dealer and he told me if it threw a certain code they would fix it for free. If it threw a "different" code they would charge me $50 for just checking the code.
I KNOW the code it throws is C0475 already.
Just curious if this is the code it would throw to get the free repair
THANKS

The PWR STR message on the DIC for sure.

C0475 should do it. That means either the motor has totally shorted out in the windings or the wiring to it is faulty.

So first check the connector, make sure it is solidly in.

What year and model HHR?

It is a 2007 LT
I'll check the connector. I was in Canada when it went out. (I live near Atlanta)....
Sometimes coming home I could driver 200 miles without it kicking off - and sometimes I couldn't drive 2 miles.
Glad I found out Chevy covers this before I spent money on fixing it.

Direct them to TSB #07-02-32-007B if they claim ignorance. Yours may also need a new column, covered under one of the warranty bulletins.

Your on again off again description is on the money for the warranty.

If you had done it yourself, the good news is the part is under $100 and a 40 minute job for mechanical dummies.

Just because it is called a recall, don't go claiming it is; it is a special warranty. Only technically a recall for the sake of paper pushers.
