These guys are not dumb....That's why they offer the Free Donuts.
You'll only get "ONE" if you Hurry.......

Some of these ongoing issues is the main reason I bought my 2011. Most all the available fixes are already Factory Installed

awesome HHR resource

This site is an awesome HHR resource. My 2006 with 180000 miles had the steering fail as described in this and many other threads. The information here was all I needed for a n/c replacement of the motor at Sport Chevrolet in Silver Spring, MD.

Many thanks to everyone involved with Chevy HHR Network! !

My car gave me the message "power steering" this morning, so I took my husbands car to work. After reading this thread, I called my local dealer who said my 2010 was not covered by any lifetime warranty issued by GM. So, if I want to get it fixed, I have to pay for it. I gave the reference you listed (TSB #07-02-32-007B) and they said they found nothing under that number. Any advise before we bite the bullet and pay for it?

Try another dealer. The one you talked to is giving you bad info.
You don't state what model you have but the SS model would not be covered by that warranty.

Teach them how to use GoOgle! Threaten legal action.

It is definitely not an SS. It is your basic no frills HHR.

Try another dealership, like a Buick /Cadillac dealership

Old Thread but new issue for me.
To any that have had the steering motor replaced.
Was there any kind of early warning?
SOMETIMES ,while not moving, if I apply pressure to the steering wheel, at first to the right nut now to the left also but not enough to turn the front wheels, I hear strange noises and the steering wheel shakes.
SOMETIMES no noise or shaking and not at all when the car in moving forward.
