Problems stemming from aftermarket deck installation HELP!
I had an aftermarket deck installed a couple of weeks ago, along with a subwoofer and amp. Everything has worked nicely until a few days ago when I turned my bright lights on (car was off) and a god awful howling started coming from the radio area. It eventually faded to a very quick clicking- similar to a dying battery or blown blinker. This clicking is present whether the car is on or off, when music plays- though it doesn't get any louder. I notice a difference in the speed of the clicking when I turn on the blinkers, and sometimes when nothing at all is being done- lights, music, doors etc. the blinkers no longer chime, incoming messages and calls are no longer routed through Bluetooth, and so on. Any ideas what could be causing this? And how to fix it?! Sorry so long, thanks!
I went to a different sound shop this morning, turns out the guy who originally installed the after market head unit used a cheap integration harness, which somehow caused all of the chimes to malfunction- amongst a few other things! Either way, problem solved, lesson learned (: thanks y'all for your help!
Kind of makes you miss the days when a Kenwood cassette deck and a new pair of 6x9's on the parcel shelf were considered a "Bangin' System".
Ah yes. 68 VW bug with 4 Jenson Tri-axials. 2 in the rear shelf, 2 in home made enclosures under the front seats. The enclosures had 20' speaker wires so we could take them out and set them outside the car.
Those were the days.
Those were the days.

take it back to the installer. The chimes work through the radio so if the radio failed the chimes won't work either.
to the forum, and to second Lucky's reply above, head back to the installer to have it checked out.
