If I'm on the wrong track here, then just say so.

Anti theft module #10.

Attachment 17255
Interesting and makes sense. I will have to research that idea.

This is what I was referring to. I'm fairly good with my mechanical skills, but don't have much experience with electronics/wiring. This is definitely something at the top of my list of to look at. Cheap and effective!!!

I bet some insurance companies would pick up or help with that tab, assuming you have full coverage.

Doesn't make sense to me to have full coverage on a 9 year old car...... Well, til now anyway.

Turns out I had the wrong idea. You can reset the key count to 0 then use new keys using a tech2 tool.
so pretty much the same thing db/sb said? Or something else?

My only experience with that was when we had that done on our 2006 HHR. The tecnician asked me if I was just adding an additional key (which we were) or replacing a lost or stolen one. I assumed that it was because they were two different procedures.

Question,

Why can't Chevrolet just install a new ignition switch with new programmed keys ??

The same procedure they are doing for the faulty recalled ignition switches.

You mentioned you have not had the recall done yet so it would not cost you.

Just wondering ........
