Programming key fob

Hello all, first time poster.
Is it possible for me to program my new (after market) remotestart/door lock key fob myself??? oh, guess it makes sense to tell you all the year.... it's a 2006 HHR LT

What year? The gearhead will tell you for sure ,,,,,,, But 2011 no has to be dealer! and not sure what years but I think some can be programed yourself,,, If you have a working model and can not program a new FOB the dealer will do it.. My dealer charged me 8$

New fobs must be programmed/matched to the vehicle by a dealer or locksmith with the proper equipment. This holds true for all model years of the HHR.
