Radio Button Help....

It seems GM has decided not to sell the wiring harness to connect the radio buttons on my 2008 HHR.....at least according to the parts dept at my local dealer.....any confirmation..? Gm wants to sell the whole steering wheel.

The 2007 harness fits, but I had to change the pin-outs to enable the cruise, and do not know the pins-outs for the radio buttons.

Does anyone have the color pin diagram for the radio buttons on a 2008?

Thanks,

Cajun

Check post #389 of the "Adding radio buttons" thread, Deb posted a link to wire diagram of the 07, maybe not all that different from the 08.

Post 394 of same thread has wire color info.

Wheel radio buttons

I did this mod and its no problem. Just follow the existing color pinout for the cruise and you may or may not have to mod the radio side. Chevy is trying to stop us from these cheap upgrades. Dealer parts shop tried to convince me that the cover for the radio buttons cost $105. (also order the wrong wiring harness and could never get the buttons). GM direct is the way to go.

I know I have to mod the radio side....it does not work standard. Did you swap pins 1 and 4 on the radio side...?

Thanks to all.....swapping pins 1 and 4 on the 2007 harness did the trick.

A follow up question.....the light in my radio button control is white, not the aqua of the rest of my instruments.

Not a huge deal, but does anyone know if this can be changed / modded to
match the aqua..? Did I get the wrong switch for my 2008.
