Radio issue ?

Hi all.
My son had my 2011 HHR till he got a new car !
All is fine but the radio went out sort of.
It has volume control but max volume you can barely hear ! And sound like 1 speaker.
Set control to rear speakers only and no sound at all. Adjusted balance no difference ! I assume something shot in the radio ? Is there a fuse for the speakers ? maybe a bad ground ?
I would not think all speakers are blown out ! Any ideas ?
How hard to replace OEM Radio ? Any good aftermarket radios ?
Thanks
So far all I could find on You Tube was radio removal 2006/2008 and my 2011 has a different waterfall !So is removal h same ?

Same waterfall all years. The window buttons are not part of it. Not a big deal, check out crutchfield.com for all of the bits you need; you can get the part numbers from them and order elsewhere

Most likely is bad speakers, very common issue.

Donbrew ,
Thanks I will check Crutchfield out and good to know the radio comes out the same on all years !
RJ ,
Thanks
Is it possible for all the speakers to go at once ?
I do agree it does sound like bad speakers but find it strange.
But the rear speakers may have gone first and were not noticed, Plus when I drive I rarely use the radio
Come to think of it, My 3 y/o grandson may have been in the car and may have turned the radio up 110% and when my DIL started the car pop goes the speakers :O
I will yank the radio and dig up some speakers to test the radio. But will wait till the temps are 1bove 20*

After reading a few threads on radio issues one caught my eye.
It was about door chimes and turn signal click not working being a issue with bad speakers !
So went out to check if mine worked,
No Turn Signal Clicking and No door chimes when key left in just silence !
So sounding more like speakers ?
But would bad front speakers kill the rear speakers ?
Anyway I will try and dig up so test speakers.

Change the speakers first, then if there is still a problem change the head unit, more cost effective.

Steve that is the game plan Thanks.. I just went out again and the only sound come out of those little speakers in the pillars . All 4 doors are dead , I do have the plastic trim tools and Ill grab a set of speakers and speaker cones and do the front first, And if we get a warm spell I go for it .

Really common for multiple speakers failing at the same time.

So I have been finding out lol But the rear speakers may have been out a long time, As I hardly listen to the radio. But On Crutchfield I can get a pair of speakers for less the 100$ which if I do need a radio will be a improvement lol
So I assume all I need is a set of speakers and the HHR wires should plug right in ? And I will order that waterproof cone to protect the speakers !

Question on the chime box or what ever you call it. Can the one that chimes on the HHR be used with a new radio or do I get a different one !

Thanks

You use the OEM chimes and an adapter for the HU from Crutchfield
