Remote Battery Question

This is the first time I have had a vehicle where the battery was not located in the engine compartment. It seems like, years past, there was this idea of putting vaseline on the battery terminals to reduce or stop corrosion. Is that something that is good or bad to do? Since the HHR battery is located in a cleaner, cooler. location, is that even a concern anymore?

I use a dielectric grease. Terminals can still corrode because of galvanic reaction and the placement of the battery in the rear is supposed to increase the life of the battery, not the terminals.

I'm hoping the location of the battery is giving it a longer life. We'll have had our HHR three years the middle of August, and no battery problems yet.
That unusual in the Phoenix area!
