Repeated thermostat failure

I love my HHR but I am now on my third thermostat in 3 years. It started out with my AC blowing warm after I ran into the store and left the AC running for my dog for about 10 minutes. When I got back I noticed it was getting warm in the car so I took it to an AC place and they couldn't figure it out. My brother hooked up his diagnostic tool and the only thing that came up was the thermostat. So I bought a thermostat and had pep boys put it in. Problem solved. AC worked fine for a year then same thing...After driving the car for a while the AC just started blowing warm. Diagnostics again said thermostat. Bought new one and had it installed, solved the problem . Now this Spring same thing. I don't want to just replace the thermostat this time if it's just going to need replacing in a year. Each of the last three thermostats last almost exactly one year. My AC seems to be fine except when the thermostat goes out. Surely something is causing the repeated failure of the thermostat. But my knowledge is definitely limited.
I wish I would have found this site years ago.
Any help with be appreciated. Matt

Hi Matt, to the forums!

Get the ACDelco 131-158. Others have been known to cause problems.

If your coolant temperature is below 180F or it takes more than 3 minutes to get there the AC will not run and there will be a code P0128.

What they said! It’s an easy job. Drain and replace the Dexcool also , while you have it drained.
