Replacement speedo

I have a 06 HHR, speedo quit working at 81000 miles about 2 months ago. I got a replacement coming with 76000 miles on it. What mileage will show when pluged in? Will I have to have it programed at the dealer. The replacement is also out of a 06 Thanks

If memory serves me right, the cluster reflects what is stored in the vehicle's computer. So it should reflect the mileage on your HHR when plugged into it, I believe ChevyMGR referred to these clusters as throw away units....so no data stored.

you sir are correct. Cobalt guys do it all the time. you just have to make sure they are from the same year. Like if you wanted to switch for the SS model cluster

As the other members have posted you should make sure it is from the same year! We personally would recommend to have purchased a new one matched to your vin # through the dealership even though cost would be alot more! I know the SS unit we purchased displayed the original doaner vehicles mileage and didn't calculate any new mileage when driven! The electrical is also run through the speedo as our rear doors didn't function either with just swapping out to an SS speedo! We now have a functional SS cluster in our 1LT Panel with alot of moding and some help from Trifecta:

If that happens to me I'll mount a GPS for $100.

From the thread title, I thought you needed a new banana hammock.
