Replacing the felt intake tube

Has anyoen out there replaced the felt intake tube (wheel well to airbox) with something else. The last time I was replacing the air filter and buddy of mine turned the box over and ripped the tube. I checked with the local Chevy dealer, and I thingk $55 bucks is a little much for a felt tube.

Any info you guys have would be awesome..

get a CGS cold air intake and use the felt tube to go from cgs to bottom of the wheel well.
