Rock & Debris Damage to Radiator/Condenser
I don't mean the dealer that I purchased the vehicle. If the people who build there vehicles (Ford, GM anyone) don't want to deal with the issues the customers have when we call than that tells me they don't care about my business. When I did call the corporate office the guy was a jerk and didn't want to hear about my concerns. From what I've read about dealing with them I'm not the only one who feels like this way. Again, not the dealer so far so good with them.

My son has bought a 2006 uplander from the same dealership that we have used for 10 years, that has had front end problems since 2 months after buying in 4/06 has been in the service dept i believe a dozen times for this front end problem,( he has documentation) he had to replace front tires at 12,000 miles (yes they were rotated and its documented done at the dealership) GM told the service dept this last time, well actually gave even gave my son a copy of what was issued from GM...
That this problem is known and it has been associated with several gm vans, Saturan, Buick, Chevrolet, and GM is recognizes there is a problem, and that the engineers are working on it to solve the resolve the issue.....
meanwhile the van you cant drive it over 50 miles an hour, feels like the front end is going to fall out. when you turn it clunts real loud.
He tried to trade it in ( it is on a 4 year leasew/ 2 years left) but GM nor the dealership didnt want to help. and all he wanted to do was wash the lease. and just buy another vehicle like an Impalla. start fresh again.
To a certain degree i think the service dept did what they could do, GM wouldnt help them..... My son even talked with the customer service 800 number..... and basically they told him "Welp we are sorry but thats the way it is" and they know they have a problem with these vehicles.....
Now that is what i call getting the shaft.... our family right now has 8 vehicles that have been bought and service at this dealership.... not to mention that total GM vehicles in our family 18 that are 2000 or newer....
after this happening even the 3 that work at the plant, are thinking buying other product
A dealership is made of two business units, sales and service. Service doesn't care if you buy a car from sales or not. It has been said that sales sells the first time and service sells again.
You should check in to the lemon laws of your state to see if there is a solution to the problem.
Go GM, keep laying off your experienced engineers for the grads that work for 40K less a year.
Cheap offshore parts and a loss of talent, but the big shots in the GM tower just gave themselves million dollar raises.
I don't get it, is this called "pay for NON performance"?

the only thing left is the local service... vote with your local dollars
anyway just bought a sheet of metal cloth and some split tubing to make a bug/rock screen for may 2006
Funny thing...this very same issue happened to the '01 Azteks. (it happened to me)
Same thing...GM issued a TSB, but no recall. Almost ALL 01 Azteks needed to have their condenser replaced. The service guy where I took mine swore he'd never seen it before.

Does anyone have any pix of what they did with the lower grill? I don't have any protection and am concerned as I drive alot on the highway. It's really odd that there wasn't anything installed to protect the condenser in 2006. I suppose that 13.00 or 24.00 per vehicle could add up quickly...
As far as GM hiring inexperienced workers or off-shoring their work; watch what happens over the next 8-14 months to an Americon Icon! Too bad their heads were buried in the sand while foreign automakers were rocketing forward with improving their technologies and therefore securing a foothold in the American economy. GM may not be able to catch up to the competition - I guess we will see...?

Lower Grill
I checked and there is absolutely nothing protecting the condenser or radiator! While I was looking, I found two fasteners in the center and 2 large bolts?? on either side. Does anyone know what these are for...?
