Seat Height Adjustment
Seat Height Adjustment
Newbie here. Have a question about the drivers seat height adjustment. My wife is a shortie and has the drivers seat height adjusted all the way up but when she gets back in the car in the morning, after sitting all night,it is back down quite a bit. Has anyone else had this problem? It is the manual adjuster and was curious if it was hydrauilc/air operated and was bleeding off?? Thanks

The seat adjusters in my '06 are electric. Once I get the seat exactly the way I want it to be either my wife or kid drive the damn thing somewhere and get it all out of whack so it takes me a while to make it right again.
If neither of them use the car the seat is set exactly where I left it and no adjustment is required.
So, what year model is your HHR?
The 6 way power seat (driver side only) is electric also...
IDK about the manual ones, if it is a manual seat, is it locking into the raised height position locks ?
Agree with Grizzly, need more info..

Thanks for the replies. Our HHR is a 2010 and yes it raises to the desired level and stays there while my wife drives it but for some reason it isnt at the same height after it sits overnight. The handle is on the side of the seat and you have to lift up on it and release it repeatedly for it to raise the seat. Push down on it and release repeatedly to lower it. That process seems to work as it was designed to but just dosent seem to stay adjusted.
^ First time I've heard of this.
THAT is not right. It's electric motors under there, and there isn't such massive weight that they should sag or tilt. I think I would make a visit to the dealer on this, although it might be hard to get them to mimic your symptoms. If you can devise a measurement that shows a part of seat at a different height like that over a few hours, they should be able to verify it. It should be a pretty simple warranty claim, but it might be hard for them to verify it. Good luck.

I have an 07 that does the same thing....its not electric..you "pump" the handle up/down to get the right height...mine falls flat also..even while driving it...I dont drive this car much (Got SS) so never remember to look into it and wifey isnt complaining..I prefer the seat on the floor anyways and wish the SS went that low. Anyways the seat bleeds down..suspect bad cylinder or whatever it is that raises the seat. Now that u reminded I'll make some time to look at it..( Its done this after the 1st 6 months)
Ive never heard of that fault before, mine works fine.
I havent looked, but it sure sounds and feels to me like a ratchet mechanism, not likely to fail in that manner.
As the OP has a 2010, it should be covered by the 3yr warranty.
