Seat height

Greetings,

We are the new owners of a 2007 HHR LT with cloth interior and power driver/manual passenger seat. Is there a kit out there to lower the front passenger seat?

I don't have a problem when sitting in the drivers seat - but my head touches the headliner when I sit in the passenger side. From what I have been able to see, the only adjustment on the passenger seat is back and forth and recline. Even with the seat all the way back and at a normal recline angle, my head still touches.

I am hoping there is some way to resolve this without having to fabricate custom brackets.

Thanks for reading.

Mike

Sad to say, I am the same way, and I have been contemplating this same idea.. I'm told custom brackets is probably how it will have to be.

Take a look in my gallery photos of my bracket to lower the drivers seat. I made this myself. It might give you some ideas.

No kit offered from GM, I'm guessing you may have a sunroof on your LT, they do rob quite a bit of headroom. While the driver's seat offers either 4-way manual adjustment, or power adjustment depending on the trim level, seat height on the passenger side is fixed.

This would be a job for a custom shop, either one specializing in mobility retrofit applications, or a fully equipped upholstery shop with fabrication capabilities.

Due to the passenger airbag sensor, seat belt pre-tensioners, and the design of the seat tracks....its not a DIY job I'm afraid.

For the record:

"Or you could weigh the seat area down till it sags.. Then you'd be lower.."

Was obviously just joking..

Moonsign and a few others have done a mod where they have reversed the brackets, and have fabbed new crossmembers. you gain another 2" with this mod.

Send Moonsign a PM he has many pics of the process.
