Security Issue
Hi guys,I realize this is totally not supposed to be here.
I have a 08 Silverado 1500 4x4 ext cab that will set off the horn/lights while sitting in driveway all by itself. Nothing around it at all. I am currently in a deep freeze of -40 range. Does anyone have any ideas on this as I can't seem to find anything on it.

It will be a matter of checking a few things to eliminate the options.
Try the simple stuff first - Do you have a key fob(s)? If so, is the ALARM button overly sensitive? Pull the fob apart and give it a good cleaning. You can also pull the battery in the fob(s) and see if the problem clears for a few days. (one of my fobs has an overly sensitive Lock button and will sometimes lock and relock if the fob is kept in a pocket)
Check the switches in the door jams - one might be sticky/dirty.

Problem Solved
Thanks Whopper for your input.
Actually I stumbled onto the answer by finding that my 08 HHR Lt remote start wouldn't work this morning. Willy Hunt thought hood was closed last night when plugging it in but it had not caught so was on secondary latch---no remote start.
I tried Silverado by leaving hood on first latch and bingo horn/lights played their tune.
It wouldn't do it all the time, now I realize why.
Some things are just so simple yet baffling.
Thx
