Several Codes 🙄 and Odometer Problem
Several Codes 🙄 and Odometer Problem
I have P0010, P0011 and P0121 from my code reader. My "Service Traction" light comes off and on as well as the T/C light. And the kicker is I didn't notice immediately...but the odometer isn't working. So I highly doubt the mileage is as low as it was advertised. 😤 My code reader doesn't show actual mileage of the car. I took it to a local shop and they wanted me to leave it so they could work me in that day to see if they could find the issue with the odometer. I believe he said it could be the ECM and they would have to send it out to be rebuilt. They would need to keep my car for like 3 days. Well...I needed to go to ER so that wasn't happening. And I don't really want to put it in the shop for days. I did have the oil changed prior to that...because it was well past due.
I know I saw a good thread here on these codes but I can't find it now. Maybe it's the pain killers fault!
Thanks as always for your guidance...

I love these guys , leave your car a couple of 3 days, it could be the ECM! Really, very rarely, they never think about a loose fuse to the instrument cluster, or ground wires, if the speedometer was changed it would red the mileage of the car it came out of, and changing it without properly notation or reprogramming it is illegal, same as turning back the odometer in the old days, some states do not care for cars after 10 years old.
change the solenoids and reset the computer, battery lobotomy is best, you should disconnect the negative terminal, while you changing the solenoids.

The codes P0010 and P001 VVT valves.
P0121 might be a wire on the throttle body.
The odometer data is stored in the BCM. If the I/P or BCM was replaced without proper programming the odometer will be unreliable.
Your title should reflect true mileage and should note any changes. It is federal law that current mileage be disclosed upon sale of a car, so your DMV should have records and you may have legal recourse.

Can I reset the computer myself or will I need to have it done by a mechanic? That the hell is a battery lobotomy?
I removed the throttle bottle and cleaned it on my Charger. This shouldn't be a problem.
The main thing to truly accomplish today is installing a headlight bulb and trying to clean up the actual headlights. Outdoor temps are setting in the 40s right now and I need to go into work this evening.
I just want to order all the parts needed for everything else today and wait for them to arrive.
A battery lobotomy will reset the computers, you simply disconnect the battery negative terminal, with. 10mm wrench for a full 30 minutes.
reconnect the terminal and start up your car.
Will it’s disconnected clean your throttle body with throttle body cleaner, do not even think about moving the throttle body butterfly plate, the little plastic gears strip very easily!

* Turn the ignition to the 'on' position. Place your foot on the brake and tilt the steering wheel down if your vehicle is equipped with a tilt wheel. Shift the vehicle into the lowest position on the shifter.
* Depending upon your model, the instrument panel bezel will be held into place by bolts, screws or clips. If you have clips, you can pull the bezel off the front, but if you have screws or bolts, you will need to use the proper tools to remove the bezel. After you have it off, set it aside.
* Unbolt the gauge cluster and unplug it.
* Replace the gauge cluster with a new one and plug it back in and bolt it back into place.
* Replace the bezel.
* Shift your vehicle into 'Park' and turn it off.
This should take care of the odometer not working. If it does not, you may need to contact your dealership for more assistance. In some cases, the ECM may have a software problem that requires the assistance of a technician at the dealership.
It may be possible that the connection between the wiring harness and the cluster is loose. If you suspect that the cluster is fine, but the connection is bad, you can fix that by following the steps above to disconnect the cluster. You can add white Lithium grease into the connection holes, then wipe the excess grease off the connector before plugging it back in.
Odometers with old-style cables may need to have cables replaced. Check to ensure that the cable is still connected or replace if it is a bad cable.

Odometer not Working
If only your odometer is not working, then the dash cluster may be the culprit. Should you need to replace it, here are the instructions for replacing the dash cluster. Start by parking your vehicle on a level surface and setting the parking brake.* Turn the ignition to the 'on' position. Place your foot on the brake and tilt the steering wheel down if your vehicle is equipped with a tilt wheel. Shift the vehicle into the lowest position on the shifter.

had the battery disconnected over the weekend. I'm not sure how long it was but it didn't resolve the speedometer issue.
