Why was the master cylinder replaced? What were the clutch symptoms?

Usually a problem that shows up after a repair is related to the repair itself.

However, a clutch issue would generally show up at all gear shifts, not specifically 4th and 5th.

It sounds like delayed clutch engagement after you release the clutch, first it sticks disengaged and then slams engaged.

Maybe air in the system, needs bleeding?

Can you give some more details on what is happening?
