Squeaking rear suspension
Squeaking rear suspension
2011 LS with 12K all factory - Suddenly started squeaking like I'm hauling a cage of squirrels. Somedays its horrible - other days nothing?
Does anyone have any ideas where to start looking for squeaks.
It seems like it's in the rear suspension, it happens on bumps.
Sounds like a rubber something squeaking, Something in the shocks, springs?
One thought I had maybe a new carwash I tried sprayed wax up onto something?

I have a squeak in my rear suspension. In the summer it goes away, comes back with the cold.
One of my rear shock absorbers "flow out" in full. I bought a new pair, but I not in a hurry with the installation - Hippo behaves well on the road.
I think your squeaks in the area of shock absorbers or silent blocks.
or springs

I would love to have the dealer take care of it. But it's one of those things that comes and goes, all weekend squeaking like mad. Today silent! it's a bit more humid today, still hot as heck.
It's just a noise not a big deal, but when it starts I want to just take care of it. It's hard to just drop what I am doing and run over there cause its squeaking. Twice I have planned to run over there get someone to go for a quick ride -and it's been silent.
Just like the sandpaper brake pads, they have been inspected at the dealership - All looks good. But somedays you'd swear they were sandpaper.
Like fingernails on the chalkboard.

Sandpaper brakes. I like that description. One thing the HHR rotors are noted for is they will get surface rust very easily. Is the noise only when you first start to drive and hit the brakes the first couple of times? If so, I would suspect maybe surface rust.
I get the rusty rotors every time I wash the car or even sometimes when it sits outside overnight(dew?). First time I hit the brakes, I get that rubbing, gritty noise till the rust wears off. Usually one or two brake usages.
Yepp the brakes are exactly like when they get rusted.
But when it happens, it does it all day, noise won't stop - can't wear it off.
Brake hard forward or backward, does nothing. I even pulled a tire off one day rotors smooth as a mirror.
Seems like hot dry days I get it.
I read someone else had a 2011 and they decided it was a set of too hard pads, switching pads fixed it.
But again have to get the right day, or they think I'm nutz
Keep telling myself - oh well somedays are noisy but maybe they will last forever.

Think I may have figured out the squeaks, I remembered from years ago.
Once I thought of this, it is what it sounds like....
The new car wash I went to, expensive place with the cloth brush/cleaners, and all the kids wipe it down on the way out.
Uses a crap load of soap, wax, rain-x, who knows what else.
I think it might just be wax all over my door & rear hatch weatherstripping.
Glad I never made it the dealer.
Just need to figure out what to use to clean them off, to see if it's right.

Mine has a nasty squeak when the temp is below 40 degrees. It's kind of a groaning/squeaking sound when going over a bump or through a dip. Mine sounds like it's something with the rear suspension bushings. Once the temp is above 40, nothing.
