What is to figure out about the hatch latch? Just touch the place that is intuitive to opening it, after unlocking all doors.
Ahh yeah but not without a battery in place. I took it out to test and charge and absent mindedly shut the hatch! Oops! Had to find a way in and a way to open the hatch without power. Finally found a little access hole and inside is the manual release took me a while to figure it out and I can't climb around in the inside of a vehicle or underneath either due to physical limitations from arthritis and fifty years of Harley riding, but i found it and battery in and retried the starting and just like before turns kinda slow and no start. Back to square one. Until this happened it started and ran like a top and I was happy to own it, but now? I'm not too happy with it, but i'll get over it soon as this gets handled. Thanks for the interest and the tips and all. Very much appreciated!

It’s the same procedure whether there’s a dead batter or no battery in place. Pop the access cover and then activate the release

Or, hook a 9 volt battery up to the fuse box and ground point. Or, use a 9 volt memory saver plugged into the cig lighter.

Many thanks for the links to manuals.
That was just what I needed and thanks for the tip on the hatch release.
I spent quite a while in the hatch looking for a release and found it just before I
caught up with your note, but thank you very much. I will be pulling the belt off
to see what might have gotten damaged and cause this problem. I'll keep all informed of progress
Again thank you!!

Look at the tensioner pulley, known to seize up and recommended to replace with the serpentine belt.

To all who offered their help on my problem slow starter dragging no start. I thank you all especially Donbrew and Old Blue.
The problem turned out to be the a/c compressor was intermittently hanging up and finally after removing the belt a couple times
the pulley would turn but slowly dragging the battery down. Well it finally locked up and when I tried to start and no change I took the belt off once more and started the car and it started just like before and I knew that was the problem. Sometimes you just gotta keep at it and listen to everyone but keep on keeping on. So thanks to all of you for your help and I guess I'll keep it a while longer!

You replaced or repaired the compressor pulley? A new compressor or just the clutch bearing?
