I posted photos of the codes, just waiting for them to be approved by mods.

I should also mention- I’m familiar with the timing chain problems with these engines. This car was actually my father in laws, and he gave it to us because he got himself a new truck. Before he gave the car to us, he had it in to his mechanic because it was running bad - mechanic determined it was timing chains, so he did the timing chain replacement prior to us getting the car. I’ve never had the P0016 code, however I do have P0017, P0011, P0138, P0300, and P0455.

is it possible that the replacement timing chain could have gone bad within less than 6000 miles that it has been driven since the timing chain replacement?

The P0017 indicates something wrong with the timing. First step is to remove the valve cover and see if the chain is tight.

I will check the timing chain.

but the thing I’m stuck on is the fact that 5 days ago it would start up every single time fine, and now it won’t start at all. I’ve had those codes for weeks, and only just now got around to scanning them the other day.

So you ignored the CEL for weeks. You don't know what code or codes were present. Since the P0017 is the problem that can destroy your engine (hopefully it hasn't already), start with that.

Timing chain might be ok but the front guide could have failed , the chain might have jumped a couple of links. Pull the valve cover and inspect it.

I would start with the basics. Spark and fuel but maybe see what the cam timing is doing first.

Only one way the cam shaft to crankshaft timing can change stretched or broken timing chain, stretch symptoms can be caused by broken front guide

Symptoms Symptoms of a P0017 will or may include: Malfunction Indicator Lamp (MIL) illumination The engine may run but with reduced performance The engine may crank but not start The engine may exhibit a rattle near the harmonic balancer indicating the tone ring is damaged The engine may start and run, but poorly Causes Causes may include: Timing chain stretched, or timing belt skipped a tooth due to wear Misalignment of timing belt/chain Tone ring on crankshaft slipped/broken Tone ring on camshaft slipped/broken Bad crank sensor Bad cam sensor Damaged wiring to crank/cam sensor Timing belt/chain tensioner damaged An improperly torqued crankshaft balancer A mis-built or mis-timed engine A loose or missing crankshaft balancer bolt The CMP actuator solenoid stuck open The CMP actuator stuck in a position other than 0 degrees

At this point you need to be hoping the valves haven’t crashed and bent. Do not crank the car or let anyone else do it until you prove the chain is correctly timed.

@Oldblue good news is I sorted out the starter. The electrical connection that doubles up on the top post of the solenoid had gotten tucked away and I missed it when I was reassembling. So that is sorted out.

I also inspected the timing chain. I’ve attached a video, could you let me know what you think?
