Steering Wheel Lock

I have a problem with my steering column. When I park the car with the wheels straight ahead, the steering wheel does not lock when I remove the key. If the wheels are one full turn to the left and I remove the key, the steering wheel locks. I asked the dealer about this and he said that some cars don't come with locking steering. I know I am going to have a problem getting the dealer to repair this problem and was wondering if many other members have experienced this problem with their steering wheel not locking upon key removal. Was there a possible recall for this problem?

Thanks in Advance

The steering wheel lock is not as "prominent" as it once was. If you remove the key with the wheel centered, it will not feel "locked" until you (or the thief) attempts to turn the wheel. It should lock once the wheel is turned a distance to one side or the other. Try that with yours. If it doesn't lock at all with the key removed and the wheel turned, then you have a problem.

If I remember correctly, it only locks once you turn it more than 90 degrees off center. It wont stop a thief from taking off, but he wont be able to turn a corner.
What part of Ontario are you from?

According to the owners manual in order to lock the steering wheel, you have to turn it to the right. Mine works great.

I will experiment with this over the next couple days. Sounds like 90degrees either way will lock it up

I'm pretty sure you will find it locks when you turn the wheel far enough. Once it locks, its impossible to steer the car.
