Angry Steering wheel wouldn't turn .. Service esc

I WAS DRIVING THIS MORNING AND WENT TO MAKE A TURN ONTO A STREET AND TE STEERING WHEEL LOCKED UP, felt like the power steering was gone and it was jumpy and I hit a small curb n went up into a corner lots yard. The SERVICE ESC WAS ON THE DIC AND TE TRACTION LIGHT WAS ON AS WELL. I came to a stop and waited a minute n then it started working like normal again.

I'm almost scared to drive it now. I was just a block from my destination so I parked it n drive my other car to church.

Any advice???

It could be a failing power steering motor, a bad ground to the ECM, a short in the wiring harness, or a loose fuse in the under-hood fuse box.

Check all the under-hood fuses and relays to make sure they're seated, if there's someplace close have the code/codes pulled, Advance/Autozone/Napa/Carquest/etc. will pull the codes for free.

You can drive an HHR with the power steering motor not working, but as you found out they can be a handful if it takes you by surprise.

Obviously, if you feel unsafe driving it, have it hauled someplace tomorrow for a thorough check up.

I was surprised the first time I pushed on the fusees they were all loose, Hope that is where the problem is. I hope you have a Chevy tech to talk to, don't you sell Chevys ?? Be careful if you drive it.

does the power steering motor overheat/shutdown issue set a code?
If that is the problem, call up gm and tell them they need to extend the recall to the usa before someone gets hurt.

20HHRSS08,

I'm sorry to hear you are having this problem. I suggest taking your vehicle into the dealer to have this analyzed. Let me know what you find out, thank you!
