You can get a Owner Manual by following the link in my sig. That will explain the dashboard to you.

So, the chimes have been ringing at all times when the car is parked for the last 3 years?

After market radio?

Just ****s and giggles, turn your headlights off by twisting the stalk. Does this stop the chime? Make certain that the dome light "switch" is turned off, no matter if the bulb is lit up or not.

I'm still not conveinced that it is not in the ignition switch. So you had the recall where they give you a new key? Does anyone know what thatrecall consists of, does GM change just the lock cylinder or does the entire switch get replaced?

You have maintained that it dings all the time; now it is just when the drivers door is open.

The Owner Manual from my sig is digital; you don't need to remember where you left it.

There were 2 separate recalls:
The 1st one was for replacement of the ignition key cylinder.
The 2nd one was the ignition "kit" which was the switch, 2 new keys with small keychain holes, and the metal key rings.(pic below.)
If you didn't have the cylinder replaced during the 1st recall period, GM would replace it during the 2nd recall work.

The WHITE wire on the ignition switch is the key in sensor.
The following items are connected to it, if any are stuck they could cause the ding
relay #51 underhood; check to see if it is stuck ON
park/neutral switch on the transmission
back up lights, signal from park/neutral switch.
heated seats
ABS computer

I am thinking the park/neutral switch may be the problem except the doors lock and the DRL comes on when you put it in gear.
Since it was doing it when you got it I would guess that a previous owner did something to the wires. Maybe spliced into the white wire thinking is was a switched circuit like in the 1960's.

It dings a little faster when you leave the headlights on as opposed to leaving the key in the ignition.

I recorded the difference. The sound files are m4a, any idea how I can upload m4a files here?

I just replaced the ignition switch myself as I thought that was the problem and wanted to eliminate that
