But the chimes stop when the door is closed. So it shouldn't be a door switch. It could be something else draining the battery.

Here is a pdf of the anti-theft circuit, I would check all of the door ajar switches including the lifgate. They all switch to ground, a test light should be good.

I just went through the whole thread again. This post really made me stop and think. We should all take another look at it, and digest it, I think the answer may be hiding in here.

I guess I'm back to square one.
I have been sitting in the car playing with switches and noticed that there is no different sound in the chimes with the headlights on or off or auto or on .
New development, the doors are no longer auto locking when it's put in gear however that may be a different issue.
If the chime doesn't change with different positions of the stalk... I'm back to thinking the stalk or stalk wiring is the problem.

My car is unplugged right now, but if I remember correctly, the headlight chime overrides the other chimes. So if the switch is "on", you should be hearing the fast chimes.

Can someone verify this?

Go back through all 8 pages and look for the post where I posted the page number and the actual page of interest. I'm not sure if it was this thread or the other one.

If you have the headlights on auto, give this a try; turn them to off before you remove the key instead of letting them time out.
I tried the turning the headlights off b4 I opened the door still chimed .
I did see auto lights off in the DIC

I went out and played with the delay lock .
when ON I pressed lock on the RKE with the drivers door open all the doors locked , I only pressed it once.
when I pressed the door lock button with the drivers door open they all locked but the drivers door unlocked instantly, I closed the door and waited for a 15 count and it didn't automatically lock.
I had the same results with the delay lock off

I guess it's time to go back to post #67 and start testing circuits.
