Stupid question time

I recently replaced lower control arms, brake rotors AND installed new motor mount in my 06 2LT with 146k on the odometer. I also did an alignment.
Can having the original front struts cause steering wheel shimmy under hard braking?
I think I know the answer but this is my first car with front struts and I need input.
Thanks to all that respond.

I have the 4th mount but couldn't see where it goes so it still sits in the box.
My question was about the struts and steering wheel shimmy.
P.S. I used your write up to change my mounts.
Thanx

When you say shimmy. Is the steering wheel moving left and right from center ?
Can it happen going over say railroad tracks?
Or are you filling more of a pulsation than a shimmy ?

The steering wheel pulsates left and right and only under harder than normal braking, like when I am getting off of the freeway It feels like a brake warped rotor but I've had them check at my local brake shop and was told that the rotors are within spec for runout ( not warped)

Have the back brakes been adjusted recently... I would adjust those first and see if the problem "magically" disappears before checking other things. One reason is it's cheap or free, it's also a very common problem.

I have an SS rear beam under Toughie. Installed Thanksgiving weekend last year with new, not rebuilt, calipers.
