Sudden issue with steering
Sudden issue with steering
Good evening, I was just driving my 2008 chevy hhr out to grab some food when all of a sudden the car started rumbling slightly so I pulled over. The monitoring system started displaying "Service ESC" and "Service Traction" I also noticed that when started the steering wheel was able to be rotated a full 360 degrees and beyond when usually it will lock after a certain amount of turning. I did not notice any issue with controlling the vehicle but I was only driving it for a few minutes before pulling over as it felt unsafe to drive. My car is only about a mile or maybe slightly less, would it still be safe to attempt to drive it home tomorrow or should I just have it towed to a shop with the symptoms I've described. I have done a bit of maintenance on the car but this is the first time in the 10 years I've been driving the car that something felt very wrong with the vehicle. Any help is appreciated
I don't understand the steering wheel part.
Should be safe to drive, unless you mean the wheels are not connected to the steering. Probably you have a CEL for VVT valves if you have a 2.4L. Maybe a loose Wheel speed wire or bad hub.
