tansmission service
Hello everyone, just had my 2006 hhr ls transmission serviced by a gm dealer.Since its a sealed unit i thought it would be just a flush and fill, but to my surprise they even changed the filter,i thought i was getting ripped off but they showed me the part number.Does anyone know if this is right or did i get taken. Thanks.Douglas
Over 100K that service should include filter. Flush usually gets included, since that's the only way to get it all out of the torque converter. Price should be the same flush or complete service not including the cost of filter.
Frankly, if your dealer did in fact change the filter, I commend him/her. Many dealers WILL NOT do the filter change because it takes longer than expected and would need to be an up charge for the additional tech time.
And, if you read your Owners Manual, it states to change the fluid and filter, essentially, every 50,000 miles under the extreme conditions mentioned (but as a personal opinion it's wise to do so anyhow). If your vehicle does not meet the "extreme" conditions listed, they state it is NOT NECESSARY to change the fluid or filter..........yeah right!!

You should have a fluid and filter change every 50 thousand miles. With these cars, it would certainly be a dealership only service for me. I would never take that type of job to a jiffy lube or monroe. Not that I would ever step foot in either of those places.
Thanks for the help. The car has 79500kms so i guess i didnt get ripped.New fluid and fliter for under 300 is better than a new transmission.Car runs nice and smooth.A little preventive maintenance goes a long way. Thanks again,Douglas
