wet drivers side floor

The drivers side floor is wet, front and rear on my 2008 lt panel.

I searched a bunch on threads, but most I found were passenger side swamping. problems.

I lifted my all weather mats and underneath the carpet was soaked.

The only thing changed that may be an issue was the front windshield, but that was a year ago.

Anybody want to toss up and idea on where to look for the source of the leak...help, before it starts to stink.

speedwagen-

I used some clear RTV silicone & wiped around every door where the rubber boot for electrics connects to the body..

I had no leak, just a preventative thing. Someone (can't remember who??) had a leak at the boot & got new carpets from GM outta the deal..

Might be a starting place to look & see if any traces of water have been ..

Thanks for the tip,I siliconed the rubber boot to the "A" pillar.
When I looked down at the position of the boot when the door was closed, it looked like the boot lifts up slightly from the metal surface. When the door was open, it went back into position. I'm still trying to get things dried out, while I have to drive it every day.
The pad under the carpet is an open cell foam, and it acts like a good sponge.

I hope this was the culpret..thanks again

well the silicone did not fix the problem, after a good dry out I ignored the floor for a couple weeks, and pulled the rugs back this weekend to find a damp drivers side floor.

I think I will silicone the windshield next..I had it replaced last fall by a company that comes to your place and installs the glass.

Any other suggestions are appreciated!

Well looks like you maybe should try the water hose test. Pull back the carpets and hose down the outside. Hopefully you can locate the exact spot it's leaking from. No sense in sealing up the windshield until you find the leak.

I have not done any heater work since I owned the car, hopefuly it will be warm enough this weekend to do the hose test as recommended.

not on my HHR but another chevy vehicle i had started to get a water leak after they worked on the heater core and fans. Some brilliant tech put in the fan assembly upside down which allowed water to flow very easily through the engine bay and on to my carpet inside

Speedwagen's is leaking on the drivers side. If it was a heater issue, the passenger side would be the wet side.

Speedwagen. Fwiw. The drivers side has a few more passthroughs in the firewall(wiring, steering column, etc) Take a close look there. Check the rubber grommets for damage.
