Forgot to mention hubs and right cv/axle left coming soon as time allows.
How can that happen? What is left to replace?

I would fix my cluck if I had one.

I know the one main area that is well known is the control arm bushings on the front of the standard HHR.

The standard HHR and other Delta platform cars have had bushings work out of the arms. It does not happen to all but it does happen to some. Dealers should know about it. My buddy at the dealer said they see them from time to time and fix them under warranty. It was not enough of an issue that kept him from buying an HHR.

The SS on the other hand can get a creak or groan in the front arms and at times even the rear arms. With the higher durameter bushings they use it is common in damp weather in the low 30's and high 20's. But even then it may happen once in a great while and not every day. It often his heard on dips or large bumps.

This is common on high durameter bushing and urathane bushing used on perfromance suspension. I see it often with people who replace the rubber with Urethane bushings often. You can lube them but it often comes back with time.

seems like mine comes from the brakes.
when i go to depress the brake pedal or
go to turn around as i am in reverse with
foot off brake pedal.
I got my HHR.. with 11,625 miles on it.6/30/11
seems like it started this sound at bout 20,000.xx

HHR~SS~Panel,

Have you taken your HHR into the dealer for this noise? According to your mileage you're still under bumper to bumper warranty, depending on the year of the vehicle.

Sincerely,

Evan. Chevrolet Customer Service

replacing the stock sway bar and bushings got rid of my clunck. At the very least, replace the bushings.

Going to here soon..... ~
Since it was recently fixed.. with a different throttle body
At the Time it was in that was the more important problem
To get it running right again
Its also seems to need brake pads up front, So maybe they can
look at the front end for the noise at the same time ~

One thing that maybe/could cause a noise is the "chin" spoiler is loose from hitting too many park stops, also sometimes the holder-downer thingies for the splash shields in the wheel wells could be missing/damaged and causing a noise while moving. Both of those apply somewhat to my HHR. My noises don't bother me to the point I am searching for a fix, and the only thing left is the steering column U-joint, which I don't intend to try to replace.
