LOL - don't count on it - I'm at our trailer right now - you know, one of the places where teeth are scarce. So I'm definitely going downhill.

 

Had this happen today. Was told the ac clutch relay fuse was bad. Replaced it and temp gauge works and ac blows cold again. It's the fuse in number 9 slot under hood. 5 dollar fuse easy fix.

 

Double check that fuse #9 in two weeks to see if it shook loose. It probably won't but double check it.

 

I experienced the temperature gauge and the A/C not working on my 2006 Chevy HHR. All the posts said the thermostat needed to be replaced. Here is the the correct answer and process to correct this fault. My failure never set the "Check Engine Light " code into the ECM.

1. Change thermostat ONLY using AC Delco O.E.M thermostat

2. Replace Engine Temperature sensor near Thermostat with ONLY AC Delco O.E.M. Sensor

3. Remove fuse at battery to reset E.C.M. (leave fuse disconnected for 30 minutes) to insure reset. Do not start vehicle yet

4. Jack vehicle up on right side by right front tire so vehicle is tilted, remove radiator cap, reinstall fuse, start vehicle and warm up with heater on and thermostat opens when at 180 degrees and BURP the cooling system to remove air pockets. Squeeze radiator hoses and the heater hoses to force the air bubble out of the radiator with cap off

5. Once all the air air out of the radiator shut engine off, lower vehicle down, reinstall radiator cap, pull fuse at battery for 30 minutes, then reinstall fuse. start engine and let engine idle. Once engine reaches 215- 217 degrees on digital readout on DIC the fan should automatically come on.

This process should solve your problem, it did for me I just drove 350 miles with no faults.

All of these steps will solve the Temp gauge and A/C failure. Make sure the fuse is pulled for 30 minutes to insure no codes are left in the E.C.M
