Obviously it will not come up to temperature and will run too cool, and the CEL will likey come on, the temp guages will not be working, and the a/c will be disabled. Why would you want to remove it, put it back together and then repeat it a day or two later when you put the new thermostat in with all the hassle of draining, refilling and burping the cooling system to get all the air out?

When someone said this was covered by the powertrain warranty, are we talking than normal 36,000 miles 36 month warranty, the 100,000 mile one?

Thanks, either way I'm glad to know this will be fairly cheap even if I have to do it myself.

@chevyorange, I apologize for my time delay in getting with you about this as I was out of the office all last week since my husband had complications from surgery. Did you get your warranty questions resolved?

No I did not. I didn't want to go get the runaround from a dealer.

I know there is a 100,000 mile "power train warranty" in addition to the standard warranty - which one covers that code?

Unless you purchased the car NEW in November of 2009 the 36/36 warranty would not apply.

IF, the repair is covered under the guidelines of the 5/100,000, it would be covered here.

Each warranty coverage starts at the time of first retail sale.
